In Polynesian culture te Po is commonly known as a place of complete darkness, a time before the land and the sky separated.
These particular earrings are intended to be sold to Wāhine Māori only,
The Moko Kauae should be designed for Māori by Māori
The application to earrings and other acessories for us have been a way to give our children particularlly our daughters a sense of normalisation of a taonga that was nearly wiped out for our people, as it turns out, it also helps to aid the conversation that not all of Te Ao Maori should be shared with the world.
To respect us and our traditions sometimes means to step back.
